1st blog

Welcome to my class.  Since this is a new thing that, we will start off by making these blogs about what my classes are doing in the P.E.  You can check up on your child[ren] and see what skills they are performing/acquiring, their social interaction, and of course how much fun they are having.

My intermediate (3rd-5th) classes are in their soccer and football unit and my primary classes are involved in a muscular strength and endurance unit.  Yes you saw that right, my intermediate classes are doing both soccer and football unit at the same time.  Call me crazy, but with 36 students in each of my 5th grade classes, it just sounded manageable to me (and with equipment - I don't have the money to continue to buy ... I have to use the money wisely and purchase things that I need and buying more flags as oppose to playground balls ... yeah playground balls won out).  So one class is doing football while the other is doing soccer and the next time they come, they switch units.  It's actually working out pretty well and with the assistant that I have, it is running smoothly.  The classes get more of out; they get to practice more on the skill at hand as oppose to having all 72 students practicing - that's a lot more students plus less equipment equals a lot of wait time.

My primary (K-2nd) classes just finished their leg portion (Crab Soccer) of muscular strength and endurance and now we are working on arm strength and endurance with Parachute Games.  Sharks and Lifeguards and Cat and Mouse are the 2 games we are focusing on this week.  Below is Sharks and Lifeguards in which some students were chosen to be sharks and they are underneath the parachute.  They are suppose to crawl underneath the chute and grab students legs and pull them under.  The swimmers (students being pulled under) are suppose to yell "lifeguard" and the lifeguards are suppose to run to their rescue and pull them out.  The students are loving, especially if it's their first time playing the game.

Hi Josh, I'm glad you found your way onto my blog. The test will be the week of Dec 7-11 so you have quite sometime to read over and study the handouts. If you have any further questions or still confused on some things, please feel free to stop by my room or just reply back on here.

Dakota, I don't know what it is about a colorful circular cloth, but they go absolutely bonkers for it and scream at the top of their lungs. Lol. Is there anything that may be confusing to you about soccer or football? And tell Austin I said "hi" back. Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week.

Hi Ms K. This is Kobie Main from Mrs. Harley's class. I have really been enjoying playing soccer and football in PE. I played soccer before and my dad played football in college and he is helping me play.

Mason and Rodney, thanks so much as I am trying to jump start a blogging segment in our P.E. class. I want to start to with just the 5th graders for now and see how that goes. This week for P.E. we are finally getting to play soccer/football games. The skills portion of our unit is done so now we go over rules, get into teams and play the games. Which I'm sure everyone is looking forward to. Speaking of looking forward to ... I am ready to get duct taped lol the school as a whole did a phenomenal job of selling popcorn for our fundraiser. And I couldn't pass up an opportunity to get duct taped 😜

Kobie, that's awesome that you have already had experiences playing soccer. My class is usually an introduction to most students as there are several reasons they don't get these opportunities, i.e. time, money, transportation to name a few. Your dad played in college?! That's awesome too. Do you plan on following in his footsteps? That is fantastic that he is helping you, so if you miss anything in my class, you can always ask him. Lol
